Understand File Access Limitations
If your device runs on Android, your Mac will not display it as a drive on the desktop. As a result, you cannot access the device’s internal files directly.
Prepare for Map Transfer
Since internal file access is restricted, you will need to use an SD card to transfer the downloadable map.
Purchase the Correct SD Card
To proceed, purchase an SD card with at least 4GB of storage. This is the minimum recommended size for successful map installation.

I find it is not so great for city driving so I prefer Garmap for that.
It does seem that Botswana roads are not up to date, though.
There are several gravel roads that have been tarred that is not shown as such and therefore not routed. E.g. T4A will route from RSA Stockpoort border via Mahalapye to Palapye while there is a nice shortcut on good tar with only 15 kilo gravel via Machaneng and Mosopa to B140. This road is listed as “road” on T4A and B184 on Garmin.
I also found that T4A would not route along the coast from Terrace Bay (Namibia Skeleton Coast) to Khumib River Waterhole further north. It takes a wide detour inland (east, then north, then west).

In short I could say “I never visit Africa without it.”
I have an ancient Nuvi 2440 and in 2012 I bought the Traks East Africa download. I was impressed. So in 2016 I expanded to Namibia and Botswana too. By then I had ‘learned’ how to download and keep my tracks as gpx files on my PC. This was an enormous help in looking back for times etc., (as well as being a fun pastime when stuck at home.)
Somewhere along the line I got a full Africa and liked it a lot even though the chances of me actually going to some of the countries is less than nil. But I have expanded my horizons to Zim and Zam and points north so when this lock down offer came in it was really no contest.
I am of an age where my own traveling shelf life may be not much more than the shelf life of the download so why the heck not get get it and stay up to date?
Download was easy and the post sales help from Traks (thanks Melanie) has got me up and running on PC and ‘dry’ tested on the Device with no apparent problems.
Now all that is needed is for the lockdown to come off so I can get a set of plane tickets and try it for real in East and Southern Africa.

The T4A GPS maps are the best thing since, well, the invention of the GPS.
I am an “off-road / adventure” motorcyclist who, although I use several sources to plan trips & tours, rely on the T4A maps loaded on my GPS.
My only gripe, and it’s not a show-stopper by any means, is that I can often not create a navigable route between points (I use Garmin Basecamp) because of “discontinuities or breaks” in the tracks on the map. One can visibly see that there is a track but it isn’t routable. There are work-arounds, but this complicates planning in terms of distance / range calculations – think fuel, water, food, safety (recovery) etc.

Upon further investigation we have found a fault in the boundaries around the Western Cape, South Africa, for the 20.03 map release, that prevents routing between these particular provinces at certain points – we are working on a remedy, and it will be fixed before or in our next map update in May. We will also send this update to our subscription map subscribers.

Each year we undertake a road trip which lasts about 6-7 weeks. I have used T4A Garmin GPS Maps loaded in my Garmin with great success.
Our last trip covered 5000 km on dirt tracks and unpaved roads. With the T4A map sets were able to navigate through SA and Namibia and visit places that are very remote and seldom mentioned because of the difficulty of navigating the terrain.
