A new Tracks4Africa app is coming!

A new Tracks4Africa app is in the making, and we would like to migrate current users when it becomes available.

It is essential that all current Guide App users register on our platform (ie. if not registered yet) AND sign in to the current Guide App to enable us to give you a new subscription to the new Tracks4Africa app, as soon as it’s available.

Note: If you have not installed the Guide app yet and are considering purchasing, please go ahead – and then take note of the steps below so that we can migrate you to the new app once its available.

How to migrate from the old Guide App to the new Tracks4Africa app #

We are launching a new Tracks4Africa app and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for all existing Guide App users. To make the migration process as seamless as possible, please follow the steps below for guidance on registering, linking your previous purchases, and gaining access to your benefits.

Why a new app? #

Our old app is now more than a decade old, and we needed to update the underlying architecture.  This lays the foundation for future enhancements and ensures compliance with Google and Apple privacy and security protocols.  The new Tracks4Africa app integrates with our online Trip Planner, offers cross-platform compatibility, and expands our digital offerings.

What is changing? #

The old Guide App used in-app purchases for detailed maps and regional guides, which were bought through the Google or Apple app stores. Migration between platforms was not possible. With the new Tracks4Africa app, in-app purchases are replaced with subscriptions to all Tracks4Africa digital products. Subscriptions link to your Tracks4Africa user account, enabling access to both the online Trip Planner and the app across Android and iOS devices. Simply sign in using your registered account to access your content on any supported device.

What should you do to migrate? #

Users of the old Guide App who own any or all in-app purchases must sign in to the Guide App with their Tracks4Africa account so our system can verify and link your purchases, making them available in the new app.

If you have NOT registered on our system and NOT signed into the current GUIDE APP then this next section is for you:

Note that during the transition period the new app may not yet be available, but we still require you to register.

  1. Step 1:  Register an account on Tracks4Africa at https://map.tracks4africa.co.za/map
  2. Step 2:  After registering, open your Guide App and sign in with your Tracks4Africa account and password while connected to the internet.
    • On Android: Tap the top right-hand ‘hamburger’ menu. Then ‘Tracks4Africa Platform Login’. Then fill in your email and password and tap on login!
    • On Apple/IOS: Tap on the menu icon in the top left-hand corner. Then ‘Login’. Then fill in your email and password and tap on login!
    • This step is essential for our system to log your existing in-app purchases. You will receive a confirmation email from us detailing your successful registration.
  3. Step 3:  Once available, you will download the new Tracks4Africa app and sign in using your Tracks4Africa username and password. The app will then allow you to download all our maps and guides.

If you have any questions or encounter any issues during registration or migration, please contact our support team for assistance at sales@tracks4africa.co.za

Things to know about your subscription: #

All in-app purchases made on the old Guide App are lifetime products—meaning you paid once and own them permanently, with free updates provided. As a valued early adopter, you will receive a Lifetime Base subscription at no additional cost, ensuring continued access to all your purchased guides and maps.

If you bought any or all Guide App products, you would now gain access to the full set of guides and maps in the new app.

New users are offered the option of an annual subscription but will not receive a lifetime subscription.

Subscription types include the Base subscription, which provides access to features purchased on the old Guide App. Future enhancements will be available with an additional Premium subscription—more on this under Subscriptions.

How will I know when the new App is available? #

Once the new App is available, we will be providing further instructions via email for accessing your purchases in the new Tracks4Africa app. Once the app is launched your account will already be updated with your subscription.

Once available, you will download the new Tracks4Africa app and sign in using your Tracks4Africa username and password. The app will then allow you to download all our maps and guides.

How long will the current Guide App be supported? #

Maintenance of the current Guide App will stop on 1 May 2026. There will also be no further updates on the app.

For best user experience, please follow the steps above in order to ensure you will be migrated seamlessly to the new app.
